While we’re still waiting for the M2 MacBook Air pre-order to start, rumors have started circulating about Apple’s next big laptop release. Apple is working on a new 15-inch MacBook Air after Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reported last week, Ming-chi Kuo Chim with a report of his own.
In a tweet, Kuo smashed a bit more of the 15-inch MacBook which he said will come in the second quarter of 2023 or later. He says Apple is building a 15-inch MacBook that could offer two CPU options: an M2 like the new MacBook Air and a next-generation M2 Pro as a higher option.
Cuo also reports on charging options for laptops According to its source, the M2 model will be shipped with a 35W adapter, and the M2 Pro model will be shipped with a 67W adapter. Based on these predictions, both models will show the highest-end version of the chip because Apple does not supply those chargers with entry-level models.
Note that Kuo does not call the new model “air” like Gurman. If the new 15-inch laptop has an M2 Pro, Apple is unlikely to release it as Air because it will need a fan to cool. Kuo previously stated that the new 15-inch laptop could not be released under the Air Monica.
He further added that he had not heard of the 12-inch model as Gurman had reported. Earlier this week, Ross Young of Display Supply Chain Consultants also reported that he was “skeptical” that Apple would release a laptop smaller than 13 inches.
Apple’s new laptop, the 13-inch M2 MacBook Pro, will go pre-order on Friday, June 17.
