Calling all hams! Hamvenation 2022 is underway and is taking place over the weekend at the Green County Fair and Expo Center in Zenia, Ohio. It’s been three long years since the hamvens took place in private, and this year marks the 70th reunion of the largest hamfest in the Midwest. If you are in the area, you do not want to miss it. You’ll need a ticket, and here are a few places to choose from.
Inside the house, you will find six buildings full of commercial vendors. But outside is where the real fun is – the flea market. Will you unveil the treasure? There is only one way to find out.
If you want to go to Ham Radio, there is no place like Ham Fest to start your journey. And if you’ve seen the ARRL handbook, you’re in luck, because they’re conducting free ham test proctors at the roadside church on Fridays and Saturdays.
Can’t do it anyway, but live near the fairgrounds? Want to get in the mood on your way there? Tune in to 1620AM within a five-ish mile radius to hear weather, traffic and parking information, interviews and other bizarre radio fun. Don’t be discouraged if you’re somewhere near Ohio – they’re livestreaming it on YouTube.
[Note: the Hara Arena, pictured in our awesome Joe Kim artwork, is the old home of Hamvention, and was demolished in 2016. Better head off to the Greene County Fairgrounds instead.]
