WWDC – Apple’s Global Developers Conference – is set to begin on Monday, June 6, 2022, where the company will unveil its plans for operating systems on our iPhone, iPad, Mac, watch, homepod and Apple TV. You will be able to see the main statement below.
Apple is running a virtual WWDC due to the ongoing coronavirus epidemic, just as it did in 2020 and 2021, although some lucky developers will be able to attend in person this year. The WWDC keynote will still take the form of a video stream from Apple headquarters where we will probably see a demo of new features for Apple’s various operating systems and services that will arrive in the fall.
Following the keynote, Apple will address a ‘State of the Union’ and then hold various sessions for developers. Instead of the usual 6,000 participants (as of 2018), any Apple developer will be able to attend a session where Apple discusses the ins and outs of the new operating system and how to apply the new features.
The WWDC Keynote has always been a must watch event. In this article we will begin with the keynote address, and then we will discuss how you can view other WWDC related content that you will be able to access.

Can I join a WWDC session?
WWDC is not just a keynote speech. If you want to learn more about the new software coming to Macs, iPhones, iPads and other Apple products, you may be interested to know that in 2022, as in 2021, Apple will allow all registered developers to access online sessions.
Apple has shared a lineup with timing for the WWDC Union Platform State Presentations and 100+ developer sessions.
Unfortunately only registered developers can listen to the session – which is usually protected by an NDA. However, if you are a registered developer and usually one of the many who miss WWDC tickets, this year you will have access to all sessions – and most importantly, presenters will have the ability to ask your questions.
This lineup:
- June 6, 10am PDT: Apple Keynote
- June 6, 1pm PDT: Platform State of the Union
- June 6, 5pm PDT: Apple Design Awards
Also:
- 150 in-depth sessions, including ‘Access to Expert’.
- There are a number of virtual ‘activities’ that will “help developers engage in technical discussions, get their questions answered and connect with the community”.
- Swift Student Challenge
How to register as a developer
To register as a developer, go to the Apple Developer Program registration page and click Enroll.
Registering as Apple Developer will give you access to support materials and enable you to register Mac and iOS devices with Apple so that you can use them to run your software.
You can sign in with your own Apple ID (recommended if you are a single developer), or you can create an Apple ID for the developer account only (recommended if you are developing for a company).
You do not have to pay Apple to register as a developer. You can sign up and get access to all developer tools without paying a penny. Basic registration is fine for creating and testing an app, although you will need to sign up with Apple to subscribe if you want to download Developer Preview.
How to join a WWDC session
Apple says the WWDC 2022 format will “provide a complete program, including an online keynote and session, which will provide a great learning experience for our entire developing community, for the whole world.” Developers are encouraged to download the Apple Developer app for more information.
