A few weeks after the release of iOS 15.4, Apple began beta-testing iOS 15.5 (and related operating systems such as the iPadOS, tvOS, and watchOS). With iOS 15.4, Apple seemed to have all the features previously announced and there was nothing left to do until iOS 16 debuted at WWDC, but iOS 15.5 still has some minor changes for us. The first beta of iOS 15.5 was released on Tuesday, April 5 We expect that the development will continue for a few weeks, with the final release expected in May
Update 05/12/22: Candidates for the release of iOS 15.5 are now available to developers and public beta testers.
iOS 15.5 New Features

Request and send Apple Cash Card
In the Wallet app, large “Request” and “Send” buttons are visible when looking at the Apple Cash Card.
ITunes Pass = Apple Account Balance
ITunes Pass, a year old feature for storing and managing your iTunes credit in the wallet, is being rebranded as an Apple account. The Wallet card will work as before, showing the unused balance in your Apple account. The name better reflects that it can be used in the App Store and among other things for in-app purchases. Although the name change is not yet present in the first beta release of iOS 15.5.
Sportskit and baseball
A new “sportskit” framework has been working for some time, with references going back to iOS 15.2. Although the framework is not yet available to developers, it is being expanded to iOS 15.5 to better support things like baseball scores for specific innings. Just in time for Friday night baseball.
Apple Classical
Apple acquired Primfonic’s Classical Music service in August 2021 and stated, “In the coming months, Apple Music Classical fans will have a dedicated experience with the best features of Primfonic, including better browsing and searching capabilities and details by the composer. Showcasing classical music metadata, new features and features. “
It’s true that the Classical experience alone hasn’t passed yet, but there are several references to “Apple Classical” in the iOS 15.5 code, so a launch will probably come with the final release.
