Apple doesn’t often participate in big industry-wide events like CES or E3. The most valuable company in the world has its own event, thank you very much. Several times a year, Apple invites press and industry professionals to a theater (or on a computer screen) to hear about its latest products and services. Apple calls these “special events” and streams them online to millions of its fans.
Even in years like 2020 and 2021, that doesn’t stop Apple from creating and launching new products at certain events. In 2021 there were four such events: a spring event on April 20, a WWDC event on June 7, an iPhone launch event on September 14, and a Mac launch on October 18. In 2020 we had an extra event in November.
So far in 2022 Apple has held an event – the Peak Performance Spring Apple event on March 8 where it launched a new iPhone SE, iPad Air, Mac Studio and Studio Display. The first keynote of 2022 is history, and now we have a date for the second.
WWDC will be Apple’s next big event. The Global Developers Conference will be held June 6-10 and will begin with a keynote address.
Read on to find out what events and new product launches Apple may have for the rest of 2022.
When is Apple’s next event?
- WWDC 2022 will begin with a keynote address at 10am PT on Monday 6th June.
What Happens to an Apple Keynote?
Apple used to hold live events where the company would unveil its latest products and plans during a keynote address in front of a huge crowd.
Following the epidemic, Apple does not tend to invite people to events, but it does have little effect by inviting everyone to join an online broadcast.
Apple’s theaters for WWDC in 2022 will have a limited audience of students and developers, but we assume that everything will be broadcast in the same format for the last few years instead of being filmed in front of an audience.
Apple usually hosts four events a year, but in some years there will be no spring event and in other years Apple will skip the October event. Based on previous years, you might expect Apple’s year to look like this:
- March / April (often iPad included)
- June (WWDC – most software, sometimes high-end / pro hardware)
- September (iPhone and Apple Watch)
- October (iPad and consumer-centric Mac)
When will the next Apple event start?
Apple events usually start at 10 a.m. at Apple’s headquarters in California, at 6 p.m., UK time..
Here is what most of our readers translate in the countries where they live:
- US: 10am (PST / PDT), 11am (MST / MDT), noon (CST / CDT), 1pm (EST / EDT)
- Canada: Like above, and 2pm (AST / ADT)
- UK: 6pm (GMT / BST)

Apple events usually last between one and two hours.
WWDC 2022 Event

Apples
The date for the WWDC 2022 Keynote is not a surprise – we predicted it based on WWDC normal time. With the exception of 2020, the conference was held in the first week of June, with one or two exceptions. Here are the WWDC start dates from previous years The event is a week long and the main talk is always Monday.
In 2022 WWDC will run from Monday 6th June to Friday 10th June.
What will Apple launch at the WWDC event?
Apple always releases its new operating system at WWDC. This year, it means: iOS 16, iPadOS 16, macOS 13, watchOS 9, and tvOS 16.
Newer hardware also occasionally appears on the WWDC, and this is usually the thing that developers care about the most: the “Pro” model Mac. New MacBook Pro models were announced in late 2021, but the Mac Pro desktop could make an appearance, such as a new Mac Mini (a favorite product among developers).
The following new products may be launched at WWDC 2022, including:
- A new iMac Pro. Apple has discontinued the 27in iMac model (at least for now) but there are rumors that a new iMac Pro is coming. Many are expecting an iMac Pro with M1 Ultra at WWDC.
- Apple will no doubt cut back on the Mac Pro upgrade – assuming it puts it in line. The Mac Pro needs to be customizable and upgradeable if it is to meet the needs of the designed market. It will also surpass the already impressive Mac Studio with the M1 Ultra. We can’t wait to see what Apple has in its sleeve with the Mac Pro in 2022.
- The release of the Mac Studio leaves the future of the remaining Intel Mac Mini uncertain, but it is still possible that Apple will replace the Intel version of the Mac Mini with the M1 Pro or the Mac Mini powered by the M1 Max. Not that, expect an M2 Mac Mini by the end of the year.
- There are also a lot of rumors which indicate that a new look MacBook Air with M2 chip is working in Apple. We see it with the M2 along with a new 13in MacBook Pro.
September 2022 iPhone Event
- Tuesday 13 or Wednesday 14 September 2022 – Predicted.
Who knows what the autumn of 2022 might bring, but Apple has launched a new iPhone in September, almost every year for the past decade, so a new iPhone for September seems almost certain.
2020 was the exception to that rule – with the iPhone launching in October, but the company still held an event in September. Apple obviously likes to hold September events.
On that basis, if you want to pencil the probable date of an iPhone launch – or at least a September event – we predict Tuesday 13th or Wednesday 14th September 2022, based on the dates of Apple’s previous September events.
- 2021: Tuesday 14 September
- 2020: Tuesday 15 September (no iPhone event)
- 2019: Tuesday 10 September
- 2018: Wednesday 12 September
- 2017: Tuesday 12 September
- 2016: Wednesday 7 September
- 2015: Wednesday 9 September

October 2022 Mac Event
- Tuesday 12 October 2022 – Predicted
Apple unveiled the iPhone 12 in October 2020. Although it was an unusual year and the iPhone usually premiered in September. In October, Apple usually announces the new Mac and the new iPad.
Thinking of a date for pencil for 2022? Past October events occurred (or did not occur) on the following dates, so we are expecting an event on Tuesday 12th or Wednesday 13th October.
- 2021: Monday 18 October
- 2020: Tuesday 13 October
- 2019: No event
- 2018: Tuesday 30 October
- 2017: No event
- 2016: Thursday 27 October
- 2015: No incident
- 2014: Thursday 16 October
- 2013: Tuesday 22 October
- 2012: Tuesday 23 October
- 2011: Tuesday, October 4
What will Apple launch in October 2022?
- November 2022 marks the first two years since the arrival of the first M1 Mac, and as Apple has said it will complete the transition from Intel to its own Silicon Mac within two years. We hope Apple has introduced M-Series chips on all of its Macs, but if it isn’t there right now, you can be sure to see them at this fall’s event.
- We also see the iPad Pro gain an M2 chip at this event, although we hope to see it on Macs first. Read about the 2022 iPad Pro.
Spring 2023 event
