Let me just go to the record as follows: Google Calendar Website Hall Fine.
And fine is really the most appropriate word here. Google’s default desktop calendar interface works perfectly, and it gets the job done.
This is good enough, in fact – until you get the real experience Exceptional Alternate to Chrome OS Calendar and realize how much more efficient, effective, and generally enjoyable juggling your Chromebook-based agenda can be.
I’m so fascinated with my favorite Google-Connecting Desktop Calendar app right now, Recently-acquired CronAnd lemme tell you: awesome it doesn’t even begin to describe.
Krone, though, is currently only available for Windows and Mac systems – which makes us stand out and dry next to the riverside Chrome OS. (I moved between a Windows system and a few Chromebooks, so I found my feet in these two murky and suspiciously steamy bodies of virtual water.)
But wait, my fellow Damp Chromebook Residents: I found a suitable and similarly exceptional unique calendar app that works well with swimming in the Chrome OS environment. And if you’ve been paying attention here for a long time, this is an app that might seem surprisingly familiar.
Your new Chromebook calendar companion
I can’t wait for you: the app we’re talking about is an Android-centric calendar tool Business Calendar 2. It integrates directly with Google Calendar, so all you have to do is install it and allow it to be a calendar and you’ll be flat in seconds.
Business Calendar 2 is the app that I actively recommend in my collection of the best Android Calendar apps. Top everywhere choice for a full-featured, customization-friendly calendar upgrade on Android. And as of recent updates, the experience on the Chromebook front is a bit enjoyable.
JR In particular, the app’s developers have introduced some large-screen-purpose enhancements that allow the app to intelligently adapt its interface to any display size and look particularly sphy in desktop-sized sizes. With a bunch of new built-in keyboard shortcuts, it creates a next-level calendar experience that seems to be custom-made for computer use.
But with the exception of all the size-specific interface beauties, the business calendar shines brighter as it adds to the agenda of managing your agenda for a myriad of useful extras.
For example, when you’re looking at your month view and want to zoom in on a specific series of days, you can click or drag on any day – and the business calendar will instantly create an on-the-fly custom – zoomed view for you.
JR The app is packed with scads of other similar skill-enhancing gestures, all of which work equally well with your finger or mouse. Some standout examples:
- In that multiple-day view and standard week view, you can slide a snug slider to zoom in or out and see more or less information on the screen without scrolling. (Look at the bottom of the previous screenshot, and you’ll see what I’m saying!)
- Also in that week’s view, you can just click or tap the duration of any event once and then drag it up or down.
JR - In Agenda View, you can right-click to select multiple events, and then at the same time move, delete, or modify them at once – such an improvement over multiple steps required to do something similar on a standard Google Calendar website. .
JR - And – probably my all-time favorite feature – within the Standard Event Creation screen, you can fill in any number of fields and then save that particular setup as a template for future use. You can make it available either as a quick auto-fill or even as the default information that is filled Per New events as a starting point.
JR And get it: even if you No. Take the time to set up the template, Business Calendar will offer auto-fill suggestions based on your past calendar activity whenever you create a new event – even on multiple devices (both Android and Chrome OS) with suggestions you’re syncing. I have installed the app.
JR When it comes to the event creation interface, the way Business Calendar puts your current calendar in a new event form and lets you view and even interact with your existing agenda when adding something new is an almost painful logical touch – don’t you think?
The business calendar has many other time-saving extras, including the ability to create presets Group To enable them to be visible and out of different individual calendars and then with a single click or by tapping the app’s favorite bar at the bottom of the screen (or on the right, if your Chromebook has less display space) – not to mention the option to create a custom floating action button Gives quick access to calendar-related functions that you use frequently.
Its notifications are richer and more productive than what you’ll find on the Google Calendar website – with built-in options for snoozing your foggy ol ‘nagin desires – and you can customize every aspect of the app’s presence. On your Chromebook, the presence or absence of almost every single element, from themes and colors to the size of the font and the imaginary.
JR I’m telling you: this. Things. Is. Fantastic. And now, it’s as good as a Chromebook on an Android phone.
Business Calendar 2 is free to use in its base form with an optional $ 7 upgrade that removes ads and unlocks some advanced features (including the template system mentioned above). And once you pay for that upgrade, it will apply to both of your Chromebooks. And On any Android device where you have installed the app.
If you spend as much time looking at your program as I do, seven bucks will be well spent. But even if you’re stuck with the free setup of the app, you’ll be amazed at how much of a great upgrade it brings to your life.
